Assistant Controller, Investments & Accounting
Position Summary
Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller, Investments & Accounting, is responsible for managing the Foundation’s portfolio accounting needs and providing support for budgeting and financial reporting processes. The Assistant Controller will supervise the Senior Accountant and the Accountant.
The Assistant Controller will have responsibilities in the areas of portfolio accounting, financial accounting, and reporting. In the portfolio accounting function, the Assistant Controller will act as a liaison between the Finance Department, the Investments Department, the custodians, and the administrator, and serve as the primary contact for the administrator. In addition, the Assistant Controller will oversee the daily accounting functions related to the investment portfolio, review monthly investment reports and reconciliations, and perform annual analysis of investments based on cost and market value.
In the accounting area, the Assistant Controller will participate in the annual budget process, review and approve monthly reconciliations, perform ongoing cash flow analysis, and provide support to the Controller for all financial reporting functions and the annual audit.
Finally, the Assistant Controller is responsible for the oversight of the variance reporting process, assisting in the preparation of information for trustee and committee meetings, and assisting with year-end reporting and financial statement preparation.
The optimal candidate for this role has a high-degree of professionalism, with clear and concise verbal and written communications skills. The candidate must have at least 7 years of demonstrated experience in investment accounting, including at least 4 years of supervisory experience. CPA and graduate level preferred.
